Ms. Helen Allen, age 65, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Monday, February 12, 2024 at her residence. She was born May 5, 1958 in Wildwood, GA. Those that knew her called her Polly. Polly loved her daughter and grandchildren deeply and unconditionally. Polly loved her country music. She enjoyed having quality time with her babies. Polly was so strong willed and sometimes stubborn, but she had an enormous loving and forgiving heart. She was generous, loyal and brave. She will be remembered for all the love and affection she shared with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother/mother, Ethel Massengill Lofty, father, Charlie Shaw, mother, Becky Weeks, brother, James Buster Shaw, sister, Gerdy Mae Releford.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Nikki and Cedric Ford; grandchildren, Kynley Minor, Cuyler Ford all of Dalton, GA; her spouse of 32 years, Joe Allen and his wife Jill of Whitwell, TN; Special friend, Karen Burkett of Missouri; special cousins, Patsy Ledford of Rocky Face, GA, Bobbie York of Dalton, GA; adopted son, Matthew Burkett; granddaughter, Aspen Burkett of Missouri; sisters, Bobbie Weeks of Resaca, GA, Betty Day of Chatsworth, GA; brother, Johnny and Scarlett Weeks of Resaca, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service to celebrate the life of Ms. Helen Allen will be held Saturday February 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose chapel with Brother Eddie Bramblett officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
