Mrs. Hazel Beatrice Long, age 85 of Dalton, GA, departed this life Wednesday February 8, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Hazel was born October 1, 1931 in Chatsworth, GA, a daughter of the late George and Bonnie Chester Howell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Robert Long, brothers, Frank Howell, Gordon Howell

She is survived by her children, Lonnie and Brenda Long of Dalton, GA, William and Mary Long of Chatsworth, GA, Randall and Rita Long of Resaca, GA, Wayne Long, Rob and Misty Long of Dalton, GA, Joey and Judy Long of Resaca, GA, Chelsea and Brad Townsend of Dalton, GA; sister Montene Blevins of Dalton, GA; twenty grandchildren, twenty five great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, one great great great grandchild, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hazel Beatrice Long will be held Sunday February 12, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Andy Lands officiating. Interment will follow in the Beaverdale Cemetery with Rob Long, Robert Hooper, Gene Long, Brad Townsend William Long and Steven Bryant serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Saturday.
