Mr. Harold Edward "Eddie or Big Ed" Hood, Jr., age 61, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday morning, December 29, 2022 at Hamilton Medical Center.  Eddie was born May 14, 1961 in Dalton, Georgia.  He was a 1979 Graduate of Southeast High School and a graduate of Dalton State College where he received his Associates Degree in Nursing and his EMT/ Paramedic license.

Eddie dedicated his life to helping others at an early age.  His life was lived helping others.  He worked in the medical field for over twenty-five years at Hamilton Medical Center and Hamilton EMS.  He was a gentle giant and loved everyone.

He was preceded death by his mother, Ruby Lee Arnold Hood who died in 1982, also his grandparents, Charles H. and Ruby Inez Morrison Arnold and Homer P. and Mable F. Hood.

He is survived by his father and step-mother, Harold E. and Hazel Hood, Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Faith and Augusto Martin Morales; step-brothers and step-sisters-in-law, Tony Duncan, Trent and Tammy Duncan; step-sister and step-brother-in-law, Gerri and Lee Jones all of Dalton, GA; aunt, Betty Jo Arnold of Rocky Face, GA; nieces and nephews, Yamile, Hannia, Mercy, Heather and Jason, Amanda, Tabitha and Michael, Noah and Isiah; special family friends, Gary and Shannon Hammontree, Shelby Hammontree, Chris and Scarlet Brown and Nicholas Hammontree; great-nieces, great-nephews and many cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Harold Edward Hood, Jr., will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Kelly Grant and family and friends offering thoughts and reflections.  Following the service there will be a memorial processional to honor Eddie.  Honors will be provided by Region 1 EMS Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
