Mr. Harlin E. Walls, age 71, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life, Sunday April 3, 2016 at his home. Harlin was born February 23, 1945 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Edwin "Edge" and Ruby Jewell Rogers Walls. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Young and Eldridge "Tubby" Young and his sisters, Evelyn Flood, Wilma Bowers and Ruby Wyrick.
Harlin was 1963 graduate of North Whitfield High School and attended Dalton State. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Hamilton Plastic's in Chattanooga, Tennessee, after twenty six years of service. Harlin was a member of Central Community Church in Chatsworth, Georgia.
Harlin was a master wood worker and making acoustic guitars. He also loved making a garden in the spring.
Harlin is survived by his loving wife, Lana Wyrick Walls of the home and would have celebrated their forty-eighth wedding anniversary, June 17, 2016; sons and daughter-in-law, Brian and Melissa Walls of Chatsworth, GA, and Michael Clark of Dalton, GA; daughter and her fiance, Angie Smalley and Rob Griffin of Dalton, GA; sister, Melba Phillips of Blairsville, GA; grandchildren, Brandon Walls, Caden Walls, Bridget Smalley and Telisha Montoya; seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Mr. Harlin E. Walls will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with his pastor, Reverend Edwin Puckett officiating. His co-workers at Hamilton Plastic's, Terry Elrod, Jonathan Cecil, Tom Barringer, Dewayne Postell, Steve Watson and Kyle Varner will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the graveside service.
