Mr. Harley "H.L." Stephens age 80, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday May 17, 2023, at the local hospital. H.L. was born November 3, 1942 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Daniel "Dan" and Dorothy "Dot" Bedwell Stephens. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Alma "Ellen" Gazaway Stephens who died July 4, 2021, a brother, Donald Bedwell.

H.L. proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his sons, Harley Stephens of Chatsworth, GA, Johnny Bedwell and his companion, D.J. Holcomb of Resaca, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Tommy Holland of Dalton, GA; brother, Glen Alderman of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Joseph and Whitney Holland; great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Luke and Corbin; special companion, his dog, Blackie; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Harley "H.L." Stephens will be held Monday morning May 22, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Billy Willis officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at West Hill Cemetery with his family and close friends honored to serve as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Pose #112.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 9:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour.
