Mr. Barron Harlan Evans, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday morning, May 21, 2021 at the Advent Gordon Hospital in Calhoun, Georgia.
Harlan was born July 13, 1932, in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Jasper LaFayette and Bertha Croy Evans, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Betty Yancey Evans, who died on January 29, 2011, his in-laws, William Monk Yancey and Grace and William G. "Bill" Sanford , his brothers, Bobby Cagle, Fate Evans and Jasper "Junior" Evans, Jr. and his sisters, Rachael Cagle and Virginia Cagle.
Harlan was a true American who knew the value of hard work and family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed making a garden and could grow anything, loved woodworking and antique cars. He enjoyed dancing and singing and was very social. He worked in the carpet chemical industry for over forty years. He was active until just the last few weeks. His family was his life and he will be missed.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Cherry Evans, Steve and Tracey Evans; grandsons, Jeremy Evans and Tyler Evans; great-grandchildren, Sophia Grace Evans and Caeli Evans all of Dalton, GA; and a special friend, Willene Morgan of Calhoun, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Barron Harlan Evans will be held Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Frankie Ridley officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Barry Evans, Steve Evans, Tyler Evans, Jeremy Evans, Russell Kinsey, Brad Kinsey and Frankie Ridley honored to serve as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #112.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 12:00 p.m. noon Tuesday until the service hour.
