Ms. Gwenda Maria "Gwen" Elliott, age 71, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, November 14, 2018 at her home.

Gwen was born August 19, 1947 in Carter, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Monema Hudson and William Woody Weaver. She was also preceded in death by her only daughter, Margaret Ann "Maggie" Wimberly.

Gwen was a 1966 graduate of Anton High School in Anton, Texas. She was a self-employed medical transcriptionist and worked many years from home.  Gwen was very shy around strangers, but once she got to know you she was a wonderful conversationalist.  She lived a honest life and was not afraid to say what she thought or felt.  She enjoyed the outdoors, listening to wind chimes and owl figurines, gardening, playing the piano and painting.  She left very specific instructions on how her lawn was to be cared for. She loved her family dearly and lived life on her own terms.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Danny Christopher "Danny" and Hallie Wimberly of Derby, KA, Donald Rex "Donny" Wimberly of Chatsworth, GA; grandchildren, Teysha and Brandon Stafford, Britney Wimberly and Colby Wimberly; great-grandchildren, Leighkyn Stafford and Ahna Stafford; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Wayne Buchanan of Whitney, TX, and Randy and Lewis Halford of Stephenville, TX; several cousins and many friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Gwenda Maria "Gwen" Elliott will be held Saturday evening, November 17, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Chaplain Stephen Harthorn officiating.   Inurnment will follow with her beloved daughter in the Anton Cemetery in Anton, Texas. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 5:00 p.m. Saturday until the service hour.
