Mr. Gregory "Greg" Byron Painter, age 64 of Dalton, GA departed this life Tuesday, December 28, 2021 following a ten month courageous battle with lung cancer. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Claud and Reathel Stamey Painter; brother, Walt Painter; and brothers-in-law, Leon Scott and Vernon Nicholson.

Greg is survived by his sisters, Virginia Painter Scott of Ringgold; and Dianne Nicholson (Bill Stewart) of Dalton; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby (Margie) Painter of Dalton; nephew, Bobby Painter II of Lafayette and his fiancé, Leanne Stephenson of Rocky Face; special friends, Thomas Smith, Miguel Pena, Tom Durkan, Terry Wooten, Don Groves, Walt Ramsey and Francisco Flores.

Greg's family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. William H. Whaley and the staff of Georgia Cancer Center in Blue Ridge, GA; the staff of Northside Hospital – Cherokee; and Pruitt Hospice for the compassion and care that was provided to him.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Gregory Byron "Greg" Painter will be held Monday, January 3, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend David Owens and Chaplain Brett Ellington officiating. He will be laid to rest with his family at West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel, in Dalton, Georgia, Monday, January 3 ^rd , 2022 from 1:00 to 3:00, and the funeral will begin at 3:00 p.m.
