Obituary

Mr. Grady Alfred Key, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday morning, May 5, 2018 at the home of his daughter in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Grady was born December 21, 1928 in Ellijay, Georgia, a son of the late Harley Melton and Beulah Maggie Starks Key. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty seven years, Ethel Cordelia Davenport Key in 2010, a great-grandson, Keyson Phillips, a son-in-law, Steve Trentham and a sister, Ruthie Laurie. Grady was a 1945 graduate of Gilmer County High School and obtained an associate degree. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Airforce. He retired from Lee Printing after twenty-eight years of service.
Grady possessed a king and gentle soul and everyone who knew him agreed even the hospice and caregivers.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Rhonda and Gary McDonough of Chattanooga, TN, Mona Trentham of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Teiya Eubanks, Eric and Robin Jenkins, Geran and Mandy Jenkins, Tiana Phillips, Darice and Tim Gentry; great grandchildren, Kolby, Hagan, Coleman, Chase, Hunter, Heath, Ashlyn, Braden, Saila, Sheridan, Garrison and Alec; great-great-grandson, Jayden and Elliason; sister, Winnie Quarles of Dalton, GA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leamon and Ethel Davenport of Blue Ridge, GA, and Eva Stanley of Chatsworth, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Grady Alfred Key will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. noon at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Joe Brown and his grandson, Reverend Eric Jenkins officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with his great-grandsons, Chase Jenkins, Coleman Jenkins, Kolby Trentham, Heath Jenkins, Braden Smith and Hunter Jenkins serving as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour.
