Mr. Glen Fredrick Smith Jr., age 59, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Thursday morning, May 12, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Glen was born May 16, 1956 in Cleveland, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Glen Fredrick Smith, Sr., and Marion Jeanette Windom Smith. He was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Randall Smith and his father-in-law, Tom Guffey.

Glen was a 1974 graduate of Bradley County High School. He was employed at Bearden Industrial and formerly at Batty Machinery. Glen was a member of Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church. Glen was a good person, he loved his family and loved to work. The family would like to say a very special thanks to Reverend Vann Smith and Homestead Hospice for their help during Glen's illness.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sheila Guffey Smith of the home and would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary, August 30, 2016; son, Samuel Smith of the home; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Danny Pitts of Greenville, AL, Mistie and David Shaw of Fyffe, AL, Sandy Marlin of Cleveland, TN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve Smith, Brian and Shu Smith all of Greenville, AL, Marty and Beth Smith of Grove Oak, AL; mother-in-law, Marie Guffey of Tunnel Hill, GA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kay Nix, Ray Guffey both of Tunnel Hill, GA, Shirley Osby, Ronnie Guffey, Tommy Guffey all of Ringgold, GA; special neighbor and friend, Virgil Winkle of Chatsworth, GA; niece, Hannah Smith of Greenville, AL; several other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Glen F. Smith, Jr., will be held Friday evening, May 13, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church Pastors, Reverend Ronald Guffey and Reverend Robert Beavers officiating. He will be laid to rest the following morning, May 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at West Hill Cemetery with family and friends, Danny Pitts, Johnny Nix, Reverend Vann Smith, Ronnie Guffey, Junior Martin and Tommy Guffey serving as pall bearers. The family will receive friends Friday, May 13, 2016 at the Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church after 5:00 p.m. until the service hour.
