Mrs. Gladys Ailene Slaughter, age 86, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday morning, January 29, 2022 at her home.  Gladys was born May 17, 1935, in Calhoun, Georgia, a daughter of the late Alvin and Rose Haney.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Slaughter, a son David Slaughter, daughter, Brenda Hamrick, brother, A.T. Haney, sisters, Venus Patterson, Janette Beasley, Evelyn Bradley, and Ethel Hall.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Jimmy Stanley of Dalton, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Juanita Slaughter of Ellijay, GA, Billy Slaughter and Robert Slaughter both of Dalton, GA; brother, James Haney of Covington, GA; sisters, Stella Butrum of Chatsworth, GA, Geraldine Pack of Calhoun, GA, and Joan Weathers of Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Gladys Ailene Slaughter will be held Monday, February 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Jason Bell and Reverend Terry Timms officiating. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Resaca, Georgia, with Tyler Johnson, Brandon Johnson, Ryan Slaughter, Scott Crump, Billy Slaughter and Joseph Crump honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2022.
