Mrs. Gladys Marie Baggett Townsend, age 74, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the local hospital surrounded by her loving family. Gladys was born March 4, 1940 in Dalton, GA, a daughter of the late James Walter and Lula Mullinax Cochran. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl Cochran, Boot and Ruth Cochran, Lewis and Ala Mae Cochran, Bill and Hazel Cochran.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Polly Nix of Resaca, GA, Lamar and Stacy Nix Lafayette, GA, Bobby and Mandy Townsend of Chatsworth, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita and David Staten of Chatsworth, GA, Teresa Lloyd of Rocky Face, GA, Tammy and Trent Duncan of Dalton, GA, Sondra and David Crider of Tunnel Hill, GA, Billie Jean Chastain of Dalton, GA; brother and sisters-in-law, Lester and Elizabeth Cochran, Evelyn Cochran all of Dalton, GA; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life Mrs. Gladys Marie Baggett Townsend will be held Thursday July 24, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with David Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the United Memorial Gardens with Timmy Harrison, Dewayne Lloyd, Travis Smith, Zach Crider, Brandon Ensley and Michael Blackwell serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
