Mr. Gilbert Lee Chastain, age 85, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life, Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his residence. He was born January 20, 1939 in Dalton, Georgia a son of the late Gilbert and Ruby Brickley Chastain. He was also preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean Chance Chastain, brothers Bobby Chastain, Luther Chastain, John Chastain, Arvil Chastain, sisters, Dottie Gowen, Exie Mann, Mildred Baggett.

He is survived by his wife Betty Chastain of Dalton, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Lamar and Debbie Chastain of Cohutta, GA, Chris and Lisa Chastain of Dalton, GA, grandchildren, Renea and Connie Caldwell, Alan Chastain, Brandi Chastain, Christopher and Leighann Chastain, Jennifer Chastain, Kimberly Chastain, Michelle and Austin Williams, Tiffany Patterson; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gilbert Lee Chastain will be held Wednesday May 29, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Denny Smith officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will follow in the United Memorial Gardens with Christopher Chastain, Lamar Chastain, Connie Caldwell, Alan Chastain, Austin Williams, and Danny Messer serving as pallbearers.
