Mr. George W. Williams, age 74, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, January 21, 2015 at his home. George was born October 13, 1940 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Robert L. and Willie McGinnis Williams, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond, Luther, Robert, Jr., Milburn "Joe" and James Williams, and sisters, Alma Moore, Annis Williams, Freddie Wells, Della Defore and Betty Stanley. George was a 1960 graduate of Valley Point High School, proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a metal fabricator at Tuft-Co Finishing for over forty-five years. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Cagle Williams, and would have celebrated their forty-second wedding anniversary, April 20, 2015; sisters and brother-in-law, Lula Mae Arnold of Dawnville, GA, Annie Ruth and Floyd Rich of Dalton; sister-in-law, Phyllis Williams of Rocky Face, GA; several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. George W. Williams will be held Sunday, January 25, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Ronald Guffey officiating. Entombment will follow in the Resurrection Mausoleum at Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 and after 12:00 p.m. noon, Sunday until the service hour.
