Mr. George William Plott, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at his residence. George was born May 3, 1927 in Dalton, Georgia, a son of the late Dallas Edmond and Mary Blanche Groves Plott. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margie Ruth Land Plott and brothers, Emmett, Bobby, James and Charles Plott. George was retired from World Carpet. He loved working outside and on The Farm. He was always active and actually was doing just that when he passed away. Like the old cowboy song says, "He died with his boots on".
He is survived by his sons, Clay Plott and Chris Plott both of Dalton, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and David Helton of Dalton, GA, Kay and Ted Miles, Kathy and Charles Ballew all of Chatsworth, GA, daughter-in-law, Sherrie Plott of Dalton, Ga; brothers, Don Plott of South Carolina, and H.L. Plott of Dalton, GA; sister, Juanita Huggins of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Ken Helton, Karlee Snipes, Holly Burgess, Heather Johnson, Kellie Payne, Eric Brock, April Brown, Crystal Johnson, Jason Dalton, Christie Newman and Misty Evans; twenty-one great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and several friends.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Mr. George William Plott will be held Thursday morning, July 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at West Hill Cemetery with Reverend Mark Smith officiating. His family, Clay Plott, Chris Plott, Johnny Brown, Jacob Payne, Zach Tilson and Ronald Payne will serve as pallbearers. The family will meet at Ponders Melrose Chapel at 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning.
