Mr. George Wesley Martin, age 81 of Dalton, GA, departed this life Wednesday November 15, 2017 at the local hospital. He was born October 27, 1936 in Dalton, GA, a son of the late Duke and Mattie Oza Martin. He was also preceded in death by a son, Rusty Hyde, brothers, Joe Martin, Otis "Shirley" Martin, sister, Martha Rae Lowery. He was a 1955 graduate of West Side High School. He retired from Battey Machinery.

He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Scotty and Anna Martin, Sammy Duke Martin (Karen) of Dalton, GA; aunt, Mrs. A.B. "Kathy" Martin of Alabama; grandchildren, Marilynn Martin Schenck (Phillip) of Acworth, GA, Holly Martin Stephens (Matt) of Rocky Face, GA, Russell Cody Hyde, Murphy Martin of Dalton, GA; great grandson, Benjamin Duke Stephens.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. George Wesley Martin will be held Saturday November 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Gary McPherson officiating. A private family graveside will follow at the Dunagan Cemetery with Matt Stephens, Cody Hyde, Murphy Martin and Jason Bagley serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
