Mr. Gary Paul White 71 of Calhoun departed this life Thursday evening, September 20, 2018 at the Gordon Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. White was born on November 9, 1946 in Calhoun, Georgia, the son of the late Herman M. and Annie Mae Pendley White.  Along with his parents he is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Tommy and Ruby Pendley, Lewis and Ola White.

Gary was a member of the 1964 Graduating Class of Calhoun High School.  He was a member and a Deacon at the Agape Baptist Church in Calhoun, Georgia where he had spent his entire life, besides his time in the military.  He proudly served the United States of America in the United States Navy Seabees having served two tours in Vietnam.  He was a dedicated member of the Gideon's International and sang for many years with the Joyful Sounds Quartet.  Prior to his retirement, he and his wife were well known farmers in the Gordon County area for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving wife, Martha Samples White, to whom he was married on July 28, 1968; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Brian Gerrin; son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Mandy White; sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Ronald Walraven all of Calhoun, Georgia; grandchildren, Andrew Gerrin and his wife Jess, Isaac Gerrin, Alexis and Paiden White; great-grandchildren, Leighton and Riona Gerrin; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Gary Paul White will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with Reverend Winfred Casey and Brother Wayne Neal officiating and The Talley's providing musical selections.

An Interment service will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. from the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.  Military honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard.

Andrew and Isaac Gerrin, Kevin and Thomas Walraven, Scott Clements, Mitchell Allen, Keith West, Butch Richards, and Morgan Collins will all be honored to serve as pallbearers.

Members of the Gideons International, a ministry close to Gary's heart, will serve as honorary escorts.

Friends may visit with Mr. Gary White's family on Sunday, September 23, 2018 between the hours of 5:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. at the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home.  Mr. White will also lie in state on Monday, from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour when friends may visit.
