Mr. Gary Clifton Eaton, age 76, of Calhoun, Georgia, and formerly of McGraw, New York, departed this life Monday evening, October 23, 2017 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born August 13, 1941 in Marathon, New York, a son of the late Wendell Martin and Roberta Mae Parker Eaton. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of forty-eight years, Linda Beth Winfield Eaton and a great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Cochran. Gary was a 1960 graduate of McGraw High School in McGraw, New York. Gary proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Navy. He was retired from the Dixie Group where he was a truck driver.
He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Eaton Achord; sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Tina Eaton, Todd and Christine Eaton all of Calhoun, GA, and Jeffrey and Virginia Eaton of Plainville, GA; grandchildren, Brittany and Corey Cochran, Brandon Eaton, Blake and Kim Eaton, Bryant and Blanca Eaton, Garren Achord, Kyle Eaton, Isabella Eaton, Cameron Burchett, Ashley Cudd, Tabitha Breeding, Tyler Luck, Amber Smith and Christine Erwin; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother, Brian and Elaine Eaton; sister, Martha Hooper all of Calhoun, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Gary Clifton Eaton will be held Friday afternoon, October 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Jason Parker and Larry Winfield officiating. Entombment will follow at the Haven of Rest Memorial Park with Paul Hooper, Neal Hooper, Garren Achord, Brandon Eaton, Blake Eaton, Bryant Eaton and Corey Cochran serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Eaton, Christan Eaton, Branson Cochran, Keaton Achord, and Brantley Achord. Military crypt side honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Calhoun Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday and from 12:00 p.m. noon Friday until the service hour.
