Mr. Fred Robert Underwood, age 83, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Murray Medical Center. Fred was born September 18, 1929 in Calhoun, GA, a son of the late Robert and Katie Gravitt Underwood. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Loraine Underwood, brothers, Wallace, Hugh, and Harry Underwood.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Fred Underwood, Terry Underwood, Larry and Teresa Underwood; daughters and son-in-law, Charlotte Underwood, Angie and Scott Stokes all of Dalton, GA; sisters and brother-in-law, Betty and Charles Hughes of Tuscaloosa, AL, Grace and Margaret Underwood; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Fred Robert Underwood will be held Saturday July 20, 2013 at 1:00 pm from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Stephen Underwood officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at the United Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm Saturday.
