IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frankie Jean
Sisson
October 4, 1950 – August 25, 2020
Frankie Jean Sisson, age 69, of Cohutta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 25th, 2020 after a two-year battle with cancer, while at her home with family by her side. To say that she lost her battle, would be incorrect. She was a fighter, and through her journey her family saw her strength and perseverance.
At the age of 13 she wrote her name and phone number in a radio belonging to Johnny Clarence Sisson. Upon seeing that, he called her, and when they were together for the first time, he saw her beautiful eyes, and then a smile that stole his heart. They dated for two years before Johnny asked her to marry him. So at the age of 15 (and Johnny age 17), they eloped, with the help of Betty and Herman Stanley, to Alabama, where they were both married. Rumor has it that her mom offered to buy her a typewriter if she would not marry Johnny (even though her mother would love him like a son). Fortunately, for Angie Callaway and Jonathan Sisson, (her two children) she did not listen to her mother and they would be happily married for 54 years until her passing.
She often said that "Our lot in life is to love God, to love our family and friends, and to enjoy the fruits of our labor". And it was something she lived by. She walked through life with a silent strength and she prayed for her family every day. Through troubled times she was a rock to our family, fiercely defending and supporting us and in times of happiness she had an infectious joy.
She was not only a beloved wife, mother and sister, but she also became a "Gerney", who was loved by her grand kids and great grand kids. In fact, her son and daughter often commented that she dressed like a "Gerney" before she became one. Her impression on her family was so great that one of her great grandkids, Emma-Kate Jean, was named after her.
Truly she lived her life as a godly woman, as in Proverbs 31:25 – 28, "Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her."
She leaves a legacy of love for her family and friends. She was born to the late Maggie and Eugene Jorden, on October 4th, 1950 in Dalton, Georgia. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Faye Rigsby and a brother-in-law, D H "Peanut" Howard. She is survived by her husband Johnny Clarence Sisson, of Cohutta; daughter and son-in-law Angie and Cary Callaway, of Cohutta; son and son-in-law Jonathan and Kyle Sisson, of Roswell; brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Deanna Jorden, of Dalton; sister Patsy Howard, of Dalton; grandchildren Joshua Callaway, of Dalton; Nathan and April Callaway, of Cohutta; and great grandchildren Cally Callaway, Walker Callaway, and Emma-Kate Callaway; several nieces and nephews also survive.
