Mr. Frank D. Long, age 80, of Cleveland, Tennessee, departed this life Monday evening, February 3, 2014 at Hospice of Chattanooga, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Frank was born March 20, 1933 in Murray County, Georgia, a son of the late John W. and Clara Bramblett Long. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Long and sister, Ethel V. Loggins.
Frank proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a truck driver for over forty years and worked most of those years for Exxon. He was a member of the V.F.W. in Cleveland, Tennessee.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Dever of Elizabethtown, KY; grandchildren, Paige and Casey Howell, Mallory Pickett, Tyler Schultz and Savannah Schultz; great-granddaughter on the way, Chloe Marie Howell; sister, Zelda Marie Long of Cleveland, TN; brothers, Richard Long and Wesley Long both of Knoxville, TN; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Frank D. Long will be held Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Drive with Roberts Epps officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his grandparents at the New Hope-Kilgore Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia. Military graveside rites will be provided by the American Legion Dalton Post#112. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service hour.
