Obituary

Mrs. Frances Louise Lovingood, age 92, of Dalton, Georgia, and formerly of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 19, 2019 at her home.

Frances is survived by her son, Dan Lovingood, her daughter Jayne Brock and her husband Harold, grandchildren Dustin Brock, Dana Brock Gentry and her husband Tony, her granddaughter Esther Lovingood, great-grandchildren Hayden, Mary Jayne, and Elijah Brock, Mason and Griffin Gentry. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years Bon Lovingood, her parents William Clarence Snyder and Margaret Jane Fulton Snyder of Tyrone, PA., brothers William Snyder of Tucson, AZ, Jack Snyder of Boca Raton, FL., and sister   Dorothy Jayne Snyder of Narberth, PA.

Frances was born August 12, 1926 in Tyrone, PA. She graduated from Tyrone High School in 1944 and attended Altoona Business College in Altoona, PA. She worked for five years at Penn State University as a secretary in the Horticulture Department and later moved to Cleveland, OH to work and there she met and later married her late husband, Bon. After they married, she and Bon moved to Clearwater Beach, FL where he opened a pest control business. They moved to Dalton, GA, in 1956 where Bon's family resided and started a family and also opened Modern Exterminators.

Frances was employed for fifteen years as a secretary at Barwick Mills and in 1968 she went to work as an executive secretary at Monsanto/Astroturf Industries from which she retired in 1985.  Later she worked for Dalton State College as a short order cook in the cafeteria which allowed her to spend time with young people.

Frances was young at heart and even until the day of her death, she never considered herself old. When her children were younger, she was very active in their school and extracurricular activities. She served as the PTA president of Antioch Elementary and Eastbrook High School for many years. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Dalton's Chapter #65 Eastern Star. She was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church and sang for over thirty years in the choir. She was a wonderful wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-grandmother and friend and inspiration to many.

Visitation will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church (901 Veterans Drive, Dalton, GA, 30721) on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. The Reverend Hoyt Jenkins and Reverend Ash McEuen will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be the YAT (Young Adults at Trinity) Sunday School Class. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Chattanooga National Cemetery.  Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association, 322 East Morris St., Dalton, GA, 30721.
