Ms. Frances Harter passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at her residence in Calhoun, GA. She was welcomed into her heavenly home just one day before her 101st birthday. Ms. Harter was born June 24, 1925 in Thomasville, GA to the late Tom and May Caldwell. She graduated from Thomasville High School in 1943 and married the love of her life, John Harter, on November 4, 1950.
Frances and John lived in Camilla, GA, a town that they loved and were so proud to call home, for their nearly 70 years together. Here, they built a family, worshipped at the United Methodist Church of Camilla, played Bridge with friends, and created many happy memories together.
Ms. Frances loved traveling with Mr. John in their motor home. Together, they were able to visit 49 states in their travels together. A life-long member of Camilla United Methodist Church, Ms. Harter also enjoyed being active in church ministry and worshipping with her family and friends.
Ms. Harter was preceded in death by her husband, John Harter, and her siblings, Geary Caldwell and Jane Langford. She is survived by her daughter Pat Singleton and her husband Phillip of Calhoun, GA; her son Tom Harter and his wife Janice of Gainesville, GA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael McCaskill and fiancée Ashley, Mandy Beaton and her husband Lance, Rhys Harter, Thomas Harter, and Brice Darnell; great grandchildren, Isla Beaton, Riley Beaton, Gatlin Harter, and Jake Harter. Additionally, her niece, Kearsley Doughty and nephew, Ross Langford survive.
A graveside service will be held at Oakview Cemetery in Camilla, Georgia, on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. In lieu of flowers, any memorials may be made to the Camilla United Methodist Church, 39 S. Harney Street, P.O. Box 192, Camilla, GA 31730.
