Mrs. Frances Carson, age 86, of Calhoun, GA, departed this life, Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Gordon Health Care. Mrs. Carson was born December 8, 1929 in Blairsville, Georgia, a daughter of the late Robert and Maggie Heddon Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Carson, sons, Charles Randall Carson, and George Thomas Carson; brothers, Joseph Brown, Homer Brown, Robert Brown, Aubrey Brown, Bill Brown, and Harry Brown; sisters, Ruby Newman, Leila Mae Raper, Hazel Patten, Bonnie Muncey, Geraldine Dean Tarpley, Minnie Harvan and Edith Dale Brown. Mrs. Carson was the proud owner of the A & W Root Beer in Calhoun, Georgia.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Delana Carson of Dalton, GA, Troy Lee Overby Sr. and Becky Overby of Dalton, GA; sister, Sue Rich of Florida; grandchildren, Nakia Rice of Sugar Valley, GA, Sandon Carson of Rocky Face, GA, Randy Carson Jr. of Dalton, GA, Danielle Hobgood of Calhoun, GA, Lasha Saylor of Dalton, GA, Dacy Carson of Rock Hill, S.C., Genna Carson of Rock Springs, GA, and Kathryn Carson of Calhoun, GA, Tiffany Overby, Troy Lee Overby II, Tanesha Overby, and Tara Overby all of Dalton, GA; great-grandchildren, Dean Rice, Callie Rice, and Eli Carson.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Frances Carson will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Shane Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery with Shane Rice, Josh Hobgood, Troy Overby II, Sandon Carson, Brett Sloan and Jake White serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, and after 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday until service hour.
