Mrs. Florence Martin, age 83 of Ellijay, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, April 17, 2016 at the Kennestone Hospital. She was born January 6, 1933 in Chatsworth, GA, a daughter of the late George and Mamie Shelton Lowery. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Cooney Martin, brothers, Lawrence Lowery, Leroy Lowery, Frank Lowery, George Lowery, sisters, Edith Garrett, Geneva Lowery, Annie Lowery.

She is survived by her children, Glenn Daniel and Leelee Martin of Resaca, GA, Shona Martin of Cohutta, GA, Karen and Steve Curtis of Chatsworth, GA, Donna Trout of Cedartown, GA; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray and Cleo Lowery of Dalton, GA, Clifford Lowery of Chatsworth, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Vera and Leslie Chambers of Cohutta, GA; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Florence Martin will be held Thursday April 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Ricky Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the United Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
