Mrs. Fairris D. Parker, age 87, of Jacksonville, Alabama, and formerly of
Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, December 20, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Parker was born August 6, 1928 in Summerville, Georgia, a daughter
of the late Robert L. and Ida Marie Owens Dawson. She received her
Master's Degree in education and taught middle school for many years.
Mrs. Parker has resided in Jacksonville, Alabama, for several years and was
a member of Dalton First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of Delta
Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was loved by all who knew her and will be
missed.
Mrs. Parker is survived by her husband, Jack Parker of Jacksonville, AL;
sons, Phillip Walker of Jacksonville, AL, and Garland and Arlene Walker of
Locust Grove, GA; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Fairris D. Parker will be held
Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel
with Reverend William Scott officiating. Entombment will follow in the
Hope Mausoleum at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will
receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel one hour prior to the service.
