Mrs. Evelyn Clara Smith, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday February 6, 2022 at her residence. She was born June 8, 1932 in Chattooga County, a daughter of the late Vesta and Clara Ruth Carr Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Larry Charles Wilson, sister, Joyce Lee, grandson William Walkey. Evelyn graduated from Subligna High School in 1949. She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church. Evelyn retired from Hamilton Medical Center and then to work with her husband at Horace Bar-B-Que Hut.

She is survived by her husband Leonard Horace Smith, they would have celebrated their 72 ^nd wedding anniversary on May 16, 2022; son, David Horace Smith; daughter Sharon Gail Smith of Dalton, GA; sister, Dorothy Phillips of Valley, AL; grandchildren, Amanda and Zach Skaggs, Christine Walkey; great grandchildren, Luke Rose, Ella Rose, Nora Skaggs, Ellie Skaggs; nieces and nephews.

Private memorial service will be held at Fellowship Bible Church with Tim Chaney and Christine Walkey officiating. Interment will be in the Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
