Evelyn June Godfrey age 84, of Fairmount, GA, was born to Rosa Lee Brewster Mahan and Julius Boston Mahan of the Salacoa Valley, Cherokee County, Georgia on July 7, 1930. She passed away at home on August 14, 2014.

June was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Elaine Mahan Williams; first husband, Edwin Roland; and husband of 51 years, Jack Godfrey. She was retired from the Cobb County Schools and returned to Fairmount (Ryo) after retirement.

June is survived by her sons: Chris (Laura) Godfrey of Waleska and Byron (Beverly) Roland of Fairmount; daughters: Janie Godfrey of Smyrna and Edwina Roland of Fairmount; brother, J.B. (Eunice) Mahan of Spring Hill, TN; sister, Rachel Findley of Fairmount; brother-in-law, Gene (Sue) Godfrey of Hampton; sister-in-laws, Reba Jo Watkins of Hogansville and Rachel Godfrey of Acworth; and grandchildren: Cole and Grant Godfrey, Jerrico (Ethan) Childers, Kristen Humphreys, Rebecca (J.D.) Patterson, Julia (Nick) Furgiuele, Jennifer Roland, Dayna (Jason) Lee, and Stacey Humphreys; great-grand daughters: Sage and Annie Patterson, Alex and Isla Lee; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Services will be conducted at the Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home by Reverend Jeff Vermilya on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Viewing will be on Saturday, August 16, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Findley, Curt Godfrey, Lamar King, Rodney King, Stevie King, and J.D. Patterson.
