Mrs. Eula Mae Johnson Petty, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the local hospital.

Born January 18, 1936, in Whitfield County, Georgia, Eula Mae was the beloved daughter of the late Walter F. and Sara Velentine "Tine" Hammontree Gulledge. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Woodrow Burl Johnson and Robert Petty; her sons, Johnny Johnson and Robert Johnson; sisters, Lucille Manis, Alma Jean Sloan, and Irene Brackett; and brothers, Austin Gulledge, Charlie Gulledge, Frank Gulledge, Fred Gulledge, Willard Gulledge, and Cheslee Gulledge.

Eula Mae was a gifted beautician who took great pride in her work. She owned and operated her own beauty shop for many years—lovingly built as an addition to her home, where she joyfully welcomed clients and friends. Her ability to make others feel beautiful and cared for brought her immense happiness, and she treasured the independence and personal touch of working from her own home.

She was a faithful member of Life Gate Church and a true "people person" who never met a stranger. With her vibrant personality, Eula Mae was known for her storytelling, laughter, and warm heart. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like family. Stylish and graceful, she was always impeccably dressed, turning heads as if she'd just stepped out of a fashion magazine.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She cherished each moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby Shahan of San Diego, CA, and Ricky Johnson of Dalton, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jean and Gary Brackett of Ringgold, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Peggy Jo and Don Palmer of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Shelby Johnson, Dyess Johnson, Chelsea (Ray) Oliver, Russel Johnson, Tresia (Larry) Ockey, David (Renee) Brackett, Brian (Tabitha) Brackett, and Melinda (Steve) Hoyt; as well as several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many beloved extended family members and friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Eula Mae Johnson Petty will be held Friday morning, August 8, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Joe Sellers officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Grove Level Community Cemetery with Dyess Johnson, Russell Johnson, Shelby Johnson, and Ray Oliver honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday, and again on Friday morning after 9:00 a.m. until the service hour.
