Mrs. Estelle Ponders, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia departed this life Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  Estelle was born in Gordon County, Georgia, a daughter of the late McKinley Columbus and Alice Cleo Chastain Parker.  She was also preceded in death by her only son, Ronnie Ponders, sisters and brothers-in-law, Aslee and Kenneth Mathis, Selvia and Roy Swilling, Wilburn Rice, Jr, brothers and sisters-in-law, James Parker and Felton and Geneva Parker and a nephew, Brian Winkler.

She was an active member of CrossPointe Christian Centre. Estelle had a servant's heart. She loved her church and faith in God. She also loved flowers and babies. That was evident in the many years she kept children in her home and in the nursery at church for over fifty years.  She never had grandchildren so these were her grandchildren. She was always busy baking cakes and ironing for people. She also loved bowling and playing miniature golf.
She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Evelyn and Paul Porter of Rocky Face, GA, Wanda and Steve Champion of Chatsworth, GA, Vernice Andrews, Versell Rice, Ruby and Quinn Smith all of Dalton, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Diane Parker of Ringgold, GA; sister-in-law, Brenda Parker all of Dalton, GA;  several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Estelle Parker Ponders will be held Saturday morning, September 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Bruce Edwards and Reverend Raymond McCranie officiating. She will be laid to rest with her family at Fairview Church of God Cemetery in Ranger, Georgia, with Terry Swilling, David Parker, Ray Swilling, Timothy Parker, Jimmy Newton, and Daryl Eaton honored to serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers, Amanda Hulsey, Karen Bagley and Nelda Long Hatfield.
