Mrs. Emogene Akins Busie, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Sunday, October 22, 2017 at the local hospital. She was born January 2, 1928 in Chatsworth, Georgia, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mollie Cochran Akins. She was also preceded in death by her husband Edker Busie, son, Eugene Akins, brothers, Emory, Melvin and Pitchford Akins, sister Ethel Owens. She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church.

She is survived by her; daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Phillip Holtzclaw; daughter-in-law, Linda Akins; grandchildren, Keith and Tabitha Holtzclaw, Jason Holtzclaw, Cara and Mohammad Belhaj all of Dalton, GA, Deborah Holtzclaw of Chatsworth, GA; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Curtis Johnson, Elisha Helmes, Kaylee Holtzclaw, Tommy Peden, Lauren Holtzclaw and Brianna Peden; sister, Altha Clark all of Dalton, Georgia; several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Emogene Akins Busie will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Steve Baker and Reverend Billy Willis Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Center Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia, with Keith Holtzclaw, Jason Holtzclaw, Tommy Peden, Elisha Helmes, Derrick Hicks and Jim OBryant serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday.
