Mr. Ellis Arnold Payne, age 80, of Blue Ridge, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Erlanger Medical Center.

Mr. Payne was born on July 1, 1945, in Snow Springs, Georgia, to the late Howard and Edith Hunter Payne. A proud veteran, Ellis honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he continued his lifelong commitment to serving others as a firefighter with the Sugar Valley Fire Department, where he attained the rank of Lieutenant.

Ellis was also a dedicated member of Sugar Valley Masonic Lodge #733 for many years. He had a deep passion for serving both his country and his community, something he held close to his heart and proudly instilled in his children, who followed in his footsteps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Brandie Payne.

He is survived by his loving children: James and Cherie Payne of Fairmount, Georgia; Michael and Cindy Payne of Adairsville, Georgia; and Lisa Payne of Calhoun, Georgia. He is also survived by his brother, John Payne of Armuchee, Georgia; sisters, Joyce Pledger, Margrett Cagle, and Ruth Kerce, all of Rome, Georgia; and Evelyn and Larry Jerrettof Adairsville GA; and his cherished grandchildren, James Payne, Matthew Payne, Patsy Payne, CJ Parker, Christopher Payne, and Mahaley Hall; as well as his 24 great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mr. Payne will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Georgia National Cemetery, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 112, in accordance with his wishes
