IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ellen
Zepess
December 12, 1954 – July 31, 2024
All people die, but not all people live, and Ellen Doyle Zepess truly lived. Although she passed on July 31, 2024, her love and life made this world better. Born in Queens, NY, on December 12, 1954, to John Doyle and Margaret Hernstorf, she was the youngest girl of 14 children. Being a part of a large family and losing her dad at a young age created within Ellen the heart of a fighter, a deep love for family, and a fierce protector of those she loved. Although viewed as the baby by most of the family, Ellen was the unspoken force that held them together. After her mother died, she made sure that the family reunion continued (no small feat with all the brothers and sisters and over 60 nieces and nephews), remembered everyone's birthday, called and texted frequently, and ensured that everyone stayed in the loop on the family going's on. Ellen was also the primary caregiver for many of those who preceded her in death. Ellen did this not because she had to but so that they could live their last few months in a way that brought them happiness, comfort, and peace, and she considered it an honor. Ellen was a fantastic cook with an infectious laugh and the best sense of humor. A true Doyle, sarcasm, and attitude were her preferred love languages. She adored road trips and yard sales and often shared both with her closest sister, Susanne Bass. She used these trips to visit family (she wanted to see the home of every niece and nephew) and find unique items to share with those she loved. The pride and joys of Ellen's life were her only child, Carrie Ann Wilson, her grandson, Sterling Wilson, and her granddaughter, Storm Wilson, and her happiest times were living with them. She always said being a mom was amazing, but being a grandma was even better, and she would talk about the 3 of them frequently. Her eyes would light up every time she saw them, and she would be so excited when the grandkids said they were coming home from college. She also adored the only man she allowed to call her old lady, Steve Wilson. She will be cremated with no services at this time. Instead, a party of life will take place on Long Island next year when the weather is warm. This gives the family a chance to move through the grieving process so Ellen can have the party she deserves. The family will post details once they are finalized and closer to the event.
