Mrs. Effie Cook Taylor Sturtz, age 88 of Calhoun, GA, departed this life October 22, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Effie was born December 3, 1924 in Cherokee, NC, a daughter of the late Alford and Ora Hampton Cook. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Glen, Wayne, Max, and Robert Cook as well as sisters; Ella Garrett, Lealer Miller, Annie Chamblee and Bonnie Greason. Effie was also preceded in death by husband, Grady Taylor in 1968 and husband Robert Sturtz in 2008. Effie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sugar Valley, GA. She was also a volunteer firefighter in Sugar Valley for fifteen years and a member of the Community Club in Sugar Valley. Effie was also a retiree of the textile industry.

Effie is survived by a daughter Dimple Bowen of Calhoun, GA and a son and daughter in law Douglas and Cynthia Taylor of Adairsville, GA, she is survived by four grandchildren; Scott Taylor, Miranda Taylor, Randy and Danny Bowen, four great grandchildren and seven great- great grandchildren and very special great granddaughter Beth and Joe Maddox.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Effie Cook Taylor Sturtz will be held Friday October 25, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. from the Calhoun Chapel of Ponders Funeral home in Calhoun, GA with Reverend Tom Lyle officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery with family, friends and fellow firefighters serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday October 24, 2013 at ponders Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
