Ms. Effie Ramey, age 87, of Crandall, Georgia, departed this life Thursday April 5, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Effie was born June 14, 1930 in Fannin County, Georgia, a daughter of the late Thomas McKinley and Bessie Celia Davenport Dyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, J. L. Ramey, and brothers, Jess, Lester, Fred, William and Homer Gene Dyer and a son-in-law, Terry Hunter.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Eunice and Bill Kendrick of Crandall, GA, Marilyn Hunter, Janice and Darrell Sneed all of Chatsworth, GA; sisters, Katherine Hardin of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Evalee Pilcher, Gladys Kendrick both of Dalton, GA, Ruby Beam, Connie Thomas both of Chatsworth, GA, and DeBronda Steel of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren, Anthony Chastain, Trisha Kendrick, Lee Hunter, Sheila Hunter, Mandi Sneed and Ashley Sneed; twelve great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Effie Ramey will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with her cousin, Reverend Delmar Davenport officiating. She will be laid to rest at New Hope-Kilgore Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia, with Anthony Chastain, Sam Keeler, Cameron Mandujano, Sly Landeros, Hagan Steelman and Kala Morgan serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour.
