Mr. Edward "Cotton" Lamar Southerland, age 68, of Dalton, GA, departed this life Sunday September 11, 2016 at the local hospital. Cotton was born August 16, 1948 in Calhoun, GA, a son of the late Arthur Lee and Tennie Irene Walraven Southerland. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, David Clyde Southerland, Larry Steve Southerland, Horace Southerland, sister, Maragret Knight.

He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Brandy Southerland of Cohutta, GA, Charlie Southerland of Dalton, GA; special friend, Carla Yother; brother and sister-in-law, Neal and Dottie Southerland of Dalton, GA; sister, Aline Maudrie of Dalton, GA; grandchild, Rylee Grace Southerland; several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Edward "Cotton" Lamar Southerland will be held Wednesday September 14, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Farrell Rogers and Reverend Larry Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
