Mrs. Edna Maude Thomas Smithey, age 89 of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life, Friday May 6, 2022. Edna was born November 2, 1932 in Dalton, Georgia, the daughter of the late Guy and Eva Joyce Thomas. She was also preceded in death by her husband J.C. Smithey; brothers, Hoyt Thomas, Joe Thomas; and sister Connie McArther. Edna was a member of Mineral Springs Methodist Church for 35 plus years. She enjoyed needle work, knitting, Jeopardy, sweet potato casserole, McKays trips, and spending time with her family.

Edna is survived by her daughter, Lisa and Chuck Bartenfield of Dalton, Georgia; grandchildren, Marc and Amy Mathis, Tyler and Kim Mathis, Caiti and Brian Walker, Brady Mathis, Justin and Sarah Lavender; great-grandchildren, Caylee and Jarrod Wright, Caden Mathis and fiancé Lainey Mosteller, Luke Mathis and Zoe Mathis, Eli Walker, Ridge Walker, Braylon Johnson, and Ryker Mathis, Kingston and Beckham Lavender; sister, Camilla "Millie" Hardin of Woodstock, Georgia, also several nieces and nephews.

Service to celebrate the life of Edna Maude Thomas Smithey will be held Tuesday May 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Pastor Gordon Delashmitt officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with the family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Tuesday May 10, 2022 at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour of 2:00 p.m.
