Mrs. Edith Douglas, age 93 of Dalton, Georgia, passed away, Saturday November 1, 2014 at Pruitt Heritage Health Care in Blue Ridge, Georgia. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her vocation outside the home was bookkeeping. She was also a member of Grove Level Baptist Church and was a volunteer Grey Lady at Hamilton Medical Center, She was born Edith Allene Ward on November 27, 1920 in Catoosa County, Ringgold, Georgia. Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Douglas, parents, Logan and Lettie Ward, sister, Willie Dean Riddle, brother, Hobart Ward, niece, Debbie Ward Smith, nephew, Larry Riddle, sisters-in-law, Ada Douglas, Lillian Cantrell, Sylvia Ward, brothers-in-law, Gordon Riddle, Coy Douglas, two great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Cann of Dacula, GA, Anne Douglas of Dalton, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Janet Douglas of Blue Ridge, GA; niece, Janet Riddle Swett of Cartersville, GA; sister-in-law, Wilna Waycaster of Acworth, GA; brothers-in-law, Wallace Douglas, W.C. Douglas Jr. of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Sheri Douglas Morgan of Marietta, GA, Douglas Cann, Gary Cann of Dacula, GA, Jamie Cann Booth of Buckhead, GA; great grandchildren, William Morgan of Marietta, GA, Alicia, Ashley and Annie Booth of Buckhead, GA.
At Edith's request she is be cremated. A remembrance ceremony will be held Sunday November 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ponders Melrose Chapel, with Dr. Charlie Bridges officiating. Burial will be in the Deep Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The family would like to give special thanks to caregivers Ms. Kathy Roe and Ms. Pam Wilson and the entire nursing care staff at Pruitt Heritage Healthcare in Blue Ridge, GA for the loving care provided to Edith.
