Mr. Eddie "Big E" Griffin, age 65, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life Wednesday, June 07, 2017 at Redmond Regional Hospital in Rome, Georgia. Eddie was born December 25, 1951 in Fairmount, Georgia, a son of the late Alton and Ruth Brannon Griffin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Griffin Stanfield Ponder and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Billy Joe and Mary Hopper.

Eddie was a 1970 graduate of Fairmount High School He was an antique car buff, Harley Davidson rider, loved drag racing, the outdoors and loved to camp. He was a simple man and a good person.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Susan Griffin and would have celebrated their forty-fourth wedding anniversary, July 14, 2017; daughter, Holly Griffin of Fairmount, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Johnnie Griffin of Pace, FL; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joanna and Steve Brannon of Fairmount, GA; special friends, Marie and Richie Green of Rocky Face, GA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Eddie "Big E" Griffin will be held Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Fairmount Chapel with Minister Michael Yancey officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Hopper Cemetery in Ranger, Georgia, with Richie Green, Blake Brannon, Jim Moore, Robert Taylor, Gary "Tinker" Moore and Mylon Holbert serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be "The Creek Crowd", "The Motorcycle Family" and Stanly Boyd.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel, 2566 Hwy. 411, Fairmount, GA, from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the service hour.
