Mr. Edd David Lawson, age 82, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Saturday afternoon, January 31, 2015 at the local hospital. Edd was born November 17, 1932 in Stickleyville, Virginia, a son of the late William and Molly Johnson Lawson. Edd proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel Inez Townsend Lawson, brothers, Andrew, John M., George, Lee and Elmer Lawson and a sister, Ruth Lawson.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Kimberly Lawson of Chatsworth, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Robert Hefner of Cohutta, GA, Brenda and Robert Lloyd, Cathy and Glenn Sullivan all of Dalton, GA; brothers, William Lawson of Virginia, James Lawson, Sherman Lawson both of Dalton, GA; sisters, Shirley Atkins, Linda Bowen and Mary Miles all of Virginia, Rosetta Ridley of Chatsworth, GA; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Edd David Lawson will be held Tuesday morning, February 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Darey Kittle officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Eric Lloyd, Nathan Lloyd, Alex Sullivan, Nick Sullivan, Chad Hefner and Lane Hefner serving as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Dalton American Legion Post #112.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday.
