Dr. Earl Silas Zehr, age 83, of Dalton, GA and formerly of Corbin, KY, departed this life, Friday January 29, 2016 at his daughter's home. Earl was born January 21, 1933, the son of the late Silas and Eliza Roth Zehr. Earl was also preceded in death by his brother, John David Zehr and sister, Mary Elizabeth Zehr Piper. Earl was an educator and during his times teaching at colleges throughout the United States, his encouragement to his students, lead many of them to become educators as well. Earl was baptized and saved in the Mennonite faith and was a member of First Christian Church in Corbin, KY.

Dr. Earl Silas Zehr is survived by his wife, Vivian Carlyle Zehr, daughter, Amy Elizabeth Fyffe of Dalton, GA; sons, Gary and Debra Zehr of Knoxville, TN, Lloyd and Misti Zehr of Williamsburg, KY; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
