Mr. Earl Autrell Townsend age 83, of Fairmount, Georgia, departed this life Monday, December 12, 2022.

He was born May 27, 1939 in Fairmount, Georgia, a son of the late Lawrence Mart and Annie Sparks Townsend. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, George "Duck" Townsend, Larry Townsend, Harry Townsend, Robert Townsend, Paul Townsend, Bobby Townsend, Walter "Bud" Townsend, Amos Townsend, Otis Townsend, sisters, Lency Jenkins, Odelle Crowe, sister-in-law, Ella Townsend, brother-in-law William Mulkey.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Townsend of the residence;  son, Earl Townsend, Jr., of Fairmount, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Steve Gibson of Ranger, GA, and Darlene and Bob Nabors of Rossville, GA; brother and sisters-in-law, Bruce and Annie Sue Townsend of Fairmount, GA, and Becky Townsend of Waleska, GA, Joyce Townsend of Calhoun, GA; sister, Marcelle Mulkey of Fairmount, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Earl Autrell Townsend will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Salacoa Baptist Church in Cherokee County, Georgia, with Reverend Delmer Ledford and Reverend Reggie Temple officiating.  He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery with Robby Nabors, Cody Gibson, Brandon Crane, Donnie Edwards, Matt Townsend, Matthew Booth, Ashton Booth, and Daniel Patterson  honored to serve as pallbearers. Cody Mulkey and Ronald Townsend will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Ponders Fairmount Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning until the service hour.
