Mr. Earl Richard Holland, age 73, of Dalton, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family after years of declining health.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Clara Holland; parents, Roy Sr. and Dorothy Holland; brothers and sisters, Irene Bramblett, Roy Holland Jr., Jack N. Holland, John Holland, James D. Holland, Eva Lyles, David Holland, John Holland, Doug Holland, and special brother Danny Stanley.

He is survived by his sons Richard and Janice Holland of Dalton, Georgia, Raymond and Andrea Holland  of Cleveland, Tennessee; grandchildren, Skylar Holland, Rayelyn Holland, Brian Jackson, Crystal Long, Avery Tuck; brothers and sisters, Vernon and Faye Holland of Calhoun, Georgia, Sara and Mike Lau of Calhoun, Georgia, Carol and Lynn Thomas of Calhoun, Georgia, Bonnie and Sammy Oliver of Calhoun, Georgia, Shirley Odom of Calhoun, Georgia, Beulah Stanley of Calhoun, Georgia.

Earl is of The Church of God Faith and served the Lord for many years. Earl was a Spec 4 during the Vietnam War and received many awards and medals for his service during the War.

Earl loved to travel with his family and also travel to many gospel singings. His favorite group was the Primitive Quartet.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Amedisys Hospice Group and also to Derrick of Allway Caring Home Care. These folks went above and beyond of what we expected for Dad's health care needs.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to Relay for life Murray/Whitfield County or Warriors 4 A Cure Team under his name.  He supported Relay for life for many years.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Earl Holland will be on Friday, April 7, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Jeff Dutton officiating. A burial with full military honors will follow at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Garden and Mausoleum with Brian Jackson, Billy Waters, Tom Franks, Paul Shipman, Jeremy Ward, and Zac Stanley honored to serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Milton, Travis Lyles, Skylar Holland, and Avery Tuck. The family will receive friends at the funeral from 5:00 P.M. until 9 P.M. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 and after 11:00 a.m. on Friday.
