Dustin Dewayne Reed, 29, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at his home.
Dustin was born on September 29, 1989 in Bartow County, Georgia, the only son of Carl Dewayne Reed of Adairsville, and the late Maryanne Roberts. Along with his mother he was also preceded in death by grandfather, Earl Roberts.
He had attended school at Sonoraville High School and had been employed as a Tree Climber by Lanham's Tree Service of Calhoun. He was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church in Red Bud.
In addition to his father, Dustin is survived by his wife, Betty "BJ" Reed of the home; his sister and brother-in-law, Tiffany Reed and Jamie Floyd; step-brother, Makason Medlin; half-brother, Michael Highfield Jr. both of Adairsville; grandmothers, Juanita Roberts, all of Calhoun, and Martha Reed of Adairsville; father-in-law, Jerry Higgins; step-mothers, Heather Medlin and Lisa Reed of Adairsville; Aunts and Uncles, Jimmy Reed, Michael Roberts, Barbara Reed, Betty Mauldin, Anita and Ronnie Scheetz Sr. all of Calhoun, Deano and Sheila Lovingood of Summerville, GA; nieces, Madison and Madelyn Floyd; cousins, Zachary Reed, India Cloud, Bridgett Reed, Cody Courtney, Chelsea Dotson, Olivia McKenzie, Allie Chapelle, Dylan Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Julie Thomas, Ernest Thomas, Jamie Grogan, Miguel and Angel Marrero, and Teolia Reed; special friends, Chris Gann, Joyce and Edmond Lanham all of Calhoun; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends also survive.
Services to celebrate the life of Dustin Reed will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. from the Ponders Calhoun Chapel with Reverend Fred McCoy and Reverend Wesley Hunt officiating. Dustin will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church Cemetery in the Red Bud Community beside his mother. Michael Hatfield Jr., Ronnie Scheetz Jr., Jamie Floyd, Chris Gann, Michael Roberts, and Makason Medlin will all be honored to serve as pallbearers. Ronnie Scheetz Sr. and Dylan Johnson will serve as Honorary Escort.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 11, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at Ponders Calhoun Chapel.
