Mr. Douglas Hammontree, age 61, of Rocky Face, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, December 10, 2020, at his residence. He was born November 17, 1959 in Dalton, GA. He was preceded in death by his father Douglas Hammontree, grandson Terry Lamar Gibson. He was a Volunteer Fireman for 18 years with the Whitfield County Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Karen Hammontree of the residence; mother, Mary Hammontree, son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Megan Ledford of Rocky Face, GA; daughters, Monica and Henry Thompson of Cohutta, GA, Darlene Cynthia and Chris Germany of Fort Payne, AL; Tiffany Caldwell of Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Missy Hammontree of Catoosa, County; sister and brother-in-law, Darla and Thomas Daugherty of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Emma, Matthew and Sophia Ledford, Jallisa Hammontree, Ciara Germany, Jeremiah Hammontree, Hailey Johnson, Kendra Germany, Ashlyn Godfrey, Lisa Thompson, Henry Thompson.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Douglas Hammontree will be held Wednesday December 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Darrell Fuller officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Poplar Spring Baptist Church Cemetery with Bobby Wilson, Garner Hall, Ricky Lloyd, Scott Denson, Rodney Franklin and Gary Smith of the Whitfield County Fire Department serving as pallbearers.

Due to the National health crisis and the Covid-19 virus, masks must be worn properly at all times and social distancing must be observed when visiting the funeral home.
