IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Anne
Wheat
September 28, 1939 – November 29, 2025
Mrs. Dorothy Anne "Dot" Wheat, age 86, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Saturday evening, November 29, 2025, at her home, surrounded by those she loved most.
Dot was born September 28, 1939, in Dalton, Georgia, a daughter of the late Floyd Robert and Doris Montique Touchstone Carver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of sixty-one years, Ralph Willard Wheat; a grandson, Trevor Garrett Cobb; her sister, Mary Frances Carver; brothers, Ralph Carver and Robert Carver; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank Willard and Ivey Burns Wheat.
Dot spent many years working at Shaw Industries and was retired at the time of her passing. She was a woman of the Baptist faith, steady in her beliefs and gentle in spirit.
Those who knew Dot knew her as the quiet strength of her home. She poured her life into loving and supporting her family—standing faithfully beside her husband as they worked together to provide, to raise their children, and to build a life rooted in care and devotion. Dot's love was practical and constant: in the everyday sacrifices, the steady encouragement, and the way she always put her family first. She delighted in every season of family life, from raising her children to cheering on her grandchildren and cuddling her great-grandbabies. Dot had a tender heart and a soft spot for butterflies and angels, but nothing compared to the joy she found in her family. Her legacy lives on in the home she helped create, the people she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
Dot is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tabatha and Tip Cobb; sons and daughter-in-law, Chad and Pam Wheat, all of Chatsworth, GA, and Rickey Wheat of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Whitney and Brandon Conaway, Sarah Wheat, Chloe Wheat, Hannah and Jeremy Taylor, Abby and Jacob Chambers; great-grandchildren, Tryg Weaver, AnnaCait Gibson, Granger Cobb, Oliver Smith, Charleigh Smith, Camden Chambers, Hank Taylor and twins, Brysen and Brody Chambers; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jesse Wheat, Joann and Jimmy Teasley, all of Dalton, GA, Sue and George Morrison of Ringgold, GA, and Darlene Pritchard of Trion, GA; nephew, Eddie Carver of Dalton, GA; and other nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Dorothy Anne "Dot" Wheat will be held Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Jacob Chambers, Pam Wheat, Connie Johnston, and Tonja Parker officiating. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Center Valley Cemetery in Murray County, Georgia, with Doug Wheat, Heath Morrison, Derek Bartley, Calvin Wheat, Mathew Schmeltz, Jeremy Taylor, and Charles Tinsley honored to serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Saturday, December 6, 2025, after 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Traditions Hospice, Erin, Tracy, Chanel, Megan, Wendy, Myra, Sandy, Shanda, Jeff and Vicky and the entire team. But especially her daughter-in-law, Pam Wheat, who has been her caregiver for the past several years and we will be forever grateful.
Arrangements are by Ponders Melrose Chapel, 138 Melrose Drive, Dalton, GA 30721.
