Mrs. Dorothy Jean Mooney, age 91, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born January 6, 1926 in Newburn, Tennessee, the daughter of the late George and Dollie Cobb Davis. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Boyd Mooney Jr; son, Michael Mooney; brother, George Davis; and sister, Luna Austin, brother-in-law, Leon Williams. Dorothy was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.

Dorothy Jean Mooney is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Mooney of Dalton, GA; son and daughters-in-law, Emery Balthrop and Maribeth Balthrop, of Lookout Mountain, TN, Katie Mooney of Lookout Mountain, TN; sister, Anne Williams of Newburn, TN; grandchildren, DeAnn Balthrop, Chris Balthrop, Davis Mooney, Emma Kate Mooney; great-grandchildren, Quin Balthrop, Sileas Balthrop, and Connor Balthrop.

Services to celebrate the life of Dorothy Jean Mooney will be held 11:00 am on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Emery Balthrop

officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee with Davis Mooney officiating

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
