Obituary

Dorothy Meadows left this world on January 12, 2022 in Dalton, GA.

Dorothy was born in Augusta, GA on July 17, 1950 to parents Gay and Jennie Meadows, both deceased.  She was the loving mother to Alli Richards, Sean Barnett and Ashley Richards (deceased).

Dorothy was the cool mom. Her house was the house where all the kids wanted to hang. She was a vibrant woman who absolutely loved life. Some of her favorite things were music, exploring, gardening, reading, learning about other cultures and watching football. She was also the strong mom. The mom who survived a particular rough battle with breast cancer in 1997 and in her final years, several other health issues. While her life presented her with a series of what seemed like neverending challenges, she never waivered.  Instead, she put a smile on her face, picked herself up and faced the challenge head on. Even when she was dealing with health issues in her later years, the one comment over and over about her was how positive she was. She was someone who cheered for the underdog and wanted to save everyone who was having a rough go of it.  She also loved animals, particularly cats and would feed any stray animal that wandered onto her porch.

She spent most of her later years in the mountains of Western North Carolina.  Those mountains she always said held a special magic to her and nothing brought her more joy than just to jump in her car and take a ride with the windows down blasting a variety of music she loved from oldies from her youth to modern rock to upbeat cheerful pop.  A good day for her was exploring in the mountains and going to see the elk convene in Cherokee, NC in the evenings.

Dorothy Meadows was a special woman loved by many.

There will be a celebration of life in April for her.  For more information, please contact her daughter, Alli Richards, via email at alli.richards@gmail.com
