Mrs. Doris Dean Newton, age 68, of the Dawnville Community, in Whitfield County, Georgia, departed this life Saturday morning, July 4, 2020 at the Pruitt Health Care in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Doris was born July 25, 1951 in Murphy, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Ed and Mae Crisp.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arvil Lee Newton who died March 8, 2020, her brothers, Ray, Robert, Joe and William Crisp.  Doris was a 1969 graduate of Hiwassee Dam High School in Murphy, North Carolina.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Annie Rogers of Ider, AL; daughter, Rhonda Reagan of Murfreesboro, TN; step-children, Kim and Randy Johnson of Adairsville, GA, Tony and Terrie Newton of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Annie Mae Rogers, Elisha James Rogers, Billy Crayton Rogers, Reagan Bear, Hannah Bear, Thomas and Ashton Johnson, Tia and Brett Kelley, Tamera Johnson, Kacie Dyer, Mikaela Burns, Angie Long, Dana Mills and Donnie Mills; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Sharon Newton and Kathy Newton all of Dalton, GA; a number of great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Doris Dean Newton will be Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Crisp officiating.  She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at United Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel after 3:00 p.m. until the service hour.
