Mr. Donald Penland, age 76, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Thursday, November 10, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born October 3, 1940 in Cleveland, Tennessee, a son to the late Charles and Bertha Dixon Penland. He was also preceded in death by brothers, James, Charles, Pledger (Pete), Richard and Raymond Penland as well as sisters and brother in law; Louise Lowery, Hill and Frances Richardson. He was a graduate of Dalton High School.

He is survived by sons and daughter in law; Nathan Bryan and Linda Penland of Chatsworth, GA, Greg Penland and his fianc Vanessa Huggins of Dalton,GA, and the mother of his children; Barbara Warren. He is also survived by a sister; Blanch Osborne of Chatsworth, 2 grandsons; Ethan Penland and Zachary Penland and a special niece LaFonda Harrison.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Donald Penland will be held Saturday November 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Ministers Aaron Stanley and Jeff Bramblett officiating. He will be laid to rest at Center Valley Methodist Church Cemetery with Logan Huggins, Ethan Penland, Zachary Penland, Buddy Penland and Gary Penland serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Funeral Home from 12:00 a.m. (Noon) Saturday until the service hour.
